MY TRANSLATION PHILOSOPHY
Why HiFi?
High Fidelity
is not only a technical concept.
It's rather
human approach when applied to technical stuff.
High
Fidelity in translation is essentially
my philosophy. Basically,
the prime requirement of a customer is
to get a
final product of translation in another language
to be every bit as good as the original document.
Surprisingly, sometimes it can be even better, since a good writer can
produce a text of the quality of his talent which might surpass this of the
original writer.
Because of the
subtleties of language, and the subjective nature of both client and
audience, I'm well aware
that my work is as much Art as it is Science.
To convey properly the
core message to the
particular target audience,
I'm uniquely enabled to deliver the
passion of art and precision of science into each and every project
I undertake. Actually, I
translate ideas, not words producing in this way an irreproachable
translation product. In this respect, my approach if High Fidelity should be
conceived as fidelity to ideas of the source document, in the first
instance, to be accurately expressed in the target language, not blind
fidelity to words.
This approach
presumes that the perfect translation should be a sort of balanced compromise between requirements of a
customer simply to accurately "translate" and, on the other hand, translator's knowledge
what sounds best in his
native environment. For this reason, my philosophy of High Fidelity in
translation is that it should not look like a translation,
but as if the final product is written
in Russian by a professional
who has a good command of target language with excellent grammar and
stylistic skills and who understands
the subject in perfection.
